Sometimes, we need to look at our software tools a little differently. You have them set up to best help you save time and work efficiently, of course, but with a little creativity they can even be “retooled” a bit to help you accomplish something completely different when you need to pivot — and pivot fast.

So how should you be taking advantage of your MemberClicks solution(s) during the COVID-19 pandemic, in particular?

Whether you use one of our core AMS solutions (Oasis or Atlas) solo or paired with a strategic solution or two, here are a few ideas on how to manage some top-of-mind topics:

Managing dues renewal time

  • Pay close attention to renewal trends. Are your members renewing at a different pace than they typically do? Whether you have an anniversary-based membership cycle or a calendar date, make sure you know your renewal trends so you can spot any deviation from “the norm” as soon as it starts.
  • The way you talk about dues payments is likely going to look a little different for the time being — and, to that end, different segments of your membership may have different financial challenges to address. Using the data in your AMS, see if you can find ways to segment your membership into groups so you can have more authentic conversations during that outreach.
  • Take advantage of email templates in your AMS — both the customizable HTML designs for quickly getting emails put together and sent (Oasis users, read more here; Atlas users, read more here), and also the different suggested copy templates we’ve added to the Help Centers. (Oasis users, you can access those templates here; Atlas users, you can access them here.)

Supporting businesses and careers

  • One of the most innovative things we’ve seen comes from Atlas users, the Asheville Chamber of Commerce: they put together a directory just to highlight how members are responding to COVID-19. (Are they hiring? Are they offering take-out? Free delivery? A special discount on products or services?)

Adding more membership value is always a good idea — and in times like these, highlighting new operational initiatives for your members however you can is a great way to bring your community together.

  • Soon, your organization may find itself in a position to help its community  get back on its feet. Start now and encourage your audience to share their resume in your MC | Job Board resume bank to gain exposure. (Don’t have MC | Job Board yet? There’s NO upfront cost, check it out here.)
  • Shout out to the American Association of Dental Office Managers and their program AADOM CARES, where they’re offering a complimentary membership — which includes access to ALL member benefits — for one full year! Now, an entirely free membership option isn’t feasible for most, but consider tweaking or adding a membership type in your AMS to offer more resources and benefits — perhaps even to non-members, too. (They’ll remember your support!)

Engaging members virtually

  • You can keep your meetings intact virtually. In fact, meetings with a virtual component — whether it’s all virtual or a hybrid approach — have an advantage because it makes joining more accessible, and you can use recorded content over and over. If you’re using MC | LMS, you definitely have the flexibility to handle meetings of all kinds, from small committee gatherings to a full-on virtual conference with concurrent sessions.

(Why use an LMS for small gatherings? You can make them permission-based, store and share important files, use reporting to identify trends, etc. Think of it as a way to manage those meetings as a full-on program, rather than one-off get togethers.)

  • Speaking of smaller groups: use your membership management system to set up special lists of members who want to stay in touch and chat about certain topics. Send an initial email to understand what topics each member is interested in, then tag their member profile so you can easily keep track, send targeted emails, and facilitate discussions. (To do this in Atlas, you’d use an affiliation code; in Oasis, you’d use a custom attribute.)
  • Now more than ever, members are looking to you for online education opportunities. Whether it’s to brush up while they’re working from home or they need specific resources related to COVID-19, your MC | LMS can be used to organize those resources in a way that’ll make it easy and enjoyable for members to engage.

The best part of all these ideas? You can carry them with you beyond the COVID-19 pandemic.
