From business trips and conferences to holidays and summer vacations, chances are, you’re probably going to be out of the office some in the next few months. But before heading out, check out these four tips for remaining productive on the road:

1. Prepare

If you’re going to be working on the road, the best thing you can do is prepare. This means letting others know you’ll be out of the office, gathering important files/documents, and setting up your out-of-office email (tips on how to do that here).

And if you can get a head start on any projects/tasks, we HIGHLY recommend doing so. This will just make your life easier. (Trust us!)

2. Delegate

No matter how hard you work, chances are, you won’t be AS productive on the road as you are on a normal day in the office – and that’s ok. But that’s where the importance of delegating comes in.

Before you leave, sit down with your team and discuss all of the tasks that NEED to get done. Be realistic about what you can and can’t do, then delegate projects accordingly.

3. Pack your devices

And we mean all of them! Your laptop, your cell phone, your tablet – whatever you need to get work done, pack it. And don’t forget the items that go along with those devices – your chargers, cases and covers, etc.

4. Stay in touch

Last but not least, if you want to be productive on the road, you need to stay in touch with your coworkers back at the office. Check in with them at least once a day to make sure everything is running smoothly and that they don’t have any questions or concerns. The last thing you want is to come back to a major fire in the office.

Now if you really want to stay productive on the road (and in the office), consider utilizing an association management system. With an AMS, you can automate a lot of processes/streamline several tasks making your day-to-day life infinitely easier.
