In his TED Talk, “How to make work-life balance work,” Marsh lays out an ideal day balanced between family time, personal time, and productivity – and offers a few tips for how to make that a reality.
In this short but sweet talk, Arianna Huffington, co-founder and editor-in-chief of The Huffington Post, talks about a powerful but underutilized tool for being more productive: getting more sleep! Huffington knows first-hand what happens when you don’t get enough sleep. In fact, she once fainted from exhaustion and broke her cheek bone, requiring five stitches. As a result, she now urges people to shut their eyes and see the big picture: You can sleep your way to increased productivity and smarter decision-making.
Where do you go when you really need to get something done? Chances are, not the office. That interesting theory is what led software entrepreneur, Jason Fried, to develop his TED Talk, “Why work doesn’t happen at work.” In his talk, Fried calls out the two main offenders of office efficiency and offers three suggestions to make the workplace actually work.
This one’s interesting because it’s SO radical. Every seven years, designer Stefan Sagmeister, closes his New York studio for a year-long sabbatical to rejuvenate and refresh. Now while that practice isn’t necessarily feasible for everyone, the talk is still worth a listen. In it, Sagmeister discusses the origin of his idea and the often overlooked value of time off.
