Fall is in the air! The leaves are starting to change color and pumpkin spice everything is officially back. Take advantage of the season by putting together a fun fall fundraiser (say that 10 times fast) for your small-staff association.

Here are a few ideas:

1. Host a pumpkin carving contest

Who doesn’t love a good pumpkin carving contest?! You can accept donations in the form of a registration fee to enter the contest. Then, you can either partner with local businesses for pumpkin donations or ask guests to bring their own pumpkins.

Tip: To make your event more interactive, try posting pictures on social media and asking members to vote for their favorites!

2. Host a Halloween or Thanksgiving 5K

A well-organized run/walk could be your most successful event of the year. Why not host a fun Jack-O-Lantern Jog or a Thanksgiving Turkey Trot? 5Ks are known for attracting multiple sponsors, so you should be able to garner plenty of interest.

3. Organize a pie eating contest

Nothing says fall quite like a good pie! (Apple cinnamon, anyone?) Try reaching out to local bakeries and asking for donated pies. In exchange, you can offer publicity for their business in your organization’s newsletter and online. Don’t forget to reward the winner with a little prize!

4. Organize a chili cook-off

Ready, set, eat! Chili cook-offs are a GREAT way to raise money for your organization. You can sell tickets to both cook-off competitors and attendees who simply want to sample the chili. Then, when it comes down to the voting, can either have members vote for their favorites or leave the decision making up to your sponsors. The winner should get a little prize, and of course, year-long bragging rights.

5. Host a fall festival

If you want to host an even bigger fundraising event, try putting together a fun fall festival. You can sell tickets for admission as well as booth space to vendors. You can also ask for sponsorships in exchange for brand promotion. Don’t forget the haunted house, though!
