You’re setting goals for 2015 and we just bet that “recruit new members” is on that list. But where oh where can you find them? Here are four places that are certain to turn out interested and engaged potential new members!


  • Start with your current members

It’s always a good idea to make sure your current membership base is happy before branching out. While checking in on your old friends, ask them what they like and don’t like. If you have upcoming events, be sure to remind them and ask them to bring friends and colleagues. Word of mouth is your best weapon against obscurity!

  • Branch out to industry leaders

Talk to your prominent members’ bosses if they feel comfortable sharing that information with you. Perhaps offer dues or an event entry fee discount if you can, or even check with your budget and see if you can do some event with a specific workplace. Something like a lunch and learn can go a long way with recruitment or making a big impression on local businesses that fall within your association’s vision.

  • Check out other events

Dig out the community calendar and see what’s on the agenda. Could volunteering at a local fair or handing out water at a big town foot race be a great way to network? Of course! Keep your eyes open for an opportunity to partner or step in. Even gathering a group of members and all attending can be great for networking and branching out and meeting new members.

  • Work social media

Finally, head to social media. An active presence on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn can boost both yours and your association’s search engine optimization and make major strides towardyour credibility. While you’re at it, take a look at your website. Maybe it’s time to think about tightening it up in the New Year.
