The caps are off and the tassels have been flipped. Congrats Class of 2016! Now the question is, how can you attract those new graduates to your organization?

We’ve got a few tips:

1. Highlight your job board and/or networking opportunities

For recent college graduates, the first order of business in the real world is finding a job – and that’s something your association can help with. Maybe you have a job board that can be a great resource to recent grads. Or if not, you definitely have a network of people (your members) that can assist with the job-hunting process. State those benefits clearly on your organization’s website and social media platforms.

2. Encourage your existing members to spread the word

Your members work at a variety of companies, and those companies are starting to hire recent graduates. To get on those young people’s radar, encourage your existing members to spread the word about your association at work. That’s actually how I found out about the first association I joined. A few of my coworkers were members and told me about the benefits of joining. I wanted to get my foot in the door, so I joined and started attending meetings/events with them. Never underestimate the power of word-of-mouth marketing!

3. Consider offering a recent graduate discount

As we all know, pricing affects behavior – especially for those right out of school. To encourage more graduates to join your organization, consider offering a recent graduate discount. For example, maybe your average membership costs $120 per year. Why not lower that to $80 for people who’ve graduated within the past year? This little drop in price could make all the difference.
